Gratitude: A Year End Practice to Honor Your Body

Dec 16, 2024

So, It’s the End of the Year…

Maybe you’re feeling frustrated that you never quite hit your ideal body weight goal. Or maybe you’re already making plans for next year—thinking about how it’s going to be different, how this time you’ll finally get it right.

But before you set another goal, before you look ahead to the next big milestone, how about trying something radically different?

What if, just for a moment, you paused and felt gratitude for your body, exactly as it is, right here, right now?

I know—gratitude might feel counterintuitive, even a little uncomfortable. After all, we’re taught to constantly strive for better, to fix the things we don’t like, to push harder. But what if the most powerful thing you could do wasn’t to push, but to soften? To recognize that your body, as imperfect as it might seem, is already enough?

This practice isn’t about settling. It’s not about giving up on your goals. It’s about stepping off the endless treadmill of “not enough” and reconnecting with the incredible being that carries you through life every single day.

When we stop focusing solely on what’s missing, something shifts. We notice the quiet strength in our muscles, the rhythm of our breath, the way our body holds us, supports us, and allows us to experience this world.

Gratitude for our bodies is not about ignoring challenges or pretending everything is perfect. It’s about noticing the small, often-overlooked ways our body shows up for us—even when we’re too busy to notice.

So, to close out the year, I’ve created a guided gratitude practice for your body. It’s simple, heartfelt, and designed to help you tune out the noise of self-criticism and tune into a sense of appreciation. Not for what you think your body should be, but for what it already is.

You don’t need to fix anything, achieve anything, or prove anything to deserve this moment. Just press play, breathe deeply, and let yourself feel what it’s like to be here—right now.

And if it brings even a small shift in how you see yourself, I’d love to hear about it.

Let’s end this year not with frustration or endless planning for what’s next, but with a quiet moment of gratitude for what’s already here.

Thank you for walking this journey with me. Here’s to stepping into the new year with kindness, presence, and a little more love for ourselves
